Influenced by his mother, an artist locally known for her work with
oil paints and watercolors, Ronnie was always a creative mind. In high
school, he could re-create logos of the popular rock bands of the day,
drawing them on fellow students’ notebooks, book covers or wherever
they wanted. This would later lead to creating the logos for
some local bands and the cover for an album which unfortunately went
unreleased due to conflicts within the band.
In the military, he would draw cartoons and fax them to fellow
soldiers in the field to keep them entertained. It was while in the
military that he began taking photos as a hobby. Stationed in
Germany, Ronnie was able to travel to and take photographs of places
like Switzerland, Paris and Holland.
After leaving the military, Ronnie returned to his hometown of
Washington, DC for a few years before moving to North
Carolina’s Crystal Coast where the scenery offered the chance for many
great photos, including covering the annual
Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament
each year since 1999.
Many of the photos in the
“Rock'n Shots” section of their website
were shot by him. His photo of the tournament record 831 pound Blue
Marlin was featured in
Marlin Magazine.
Ronnie’s love of sports, particularly the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
landed him the opportunity to relocate to the Tampa Bay area to take
photos for a magazine covering Florida’s professional sports teams. Ronnie has covered the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers, Lightning, Devil Rays and Storm, the University of South Florida (USF)
Bulls, Miami Dolphins, the 2006 and 2007 Outback Bowls, as well as
professional tennis, auto racing, golf, basketball, mixed martial
arts, boxing, fashion shows, charity events and much more.
Ronnie currently uses an 8.2 megapixel
Canon EOS
20D as his primary camera, a 6.3 megapixel
Canon EOS 10D as his backup, and has lenses ranging from 18mm to
400mm. In web design and graphic arts, Ronnie is experienced with a
large amount of graphics software, programming languages, database
applications and much more.
